Instantly - Fintech Prototype

With the large push to perform everyday tasks virtually many users have adopted new ways to send and receive money. Finance apps like Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, and Cashapp have allowed users to send and receive money to and from friends, family, and businesses. To explore the onboarding process and personalization capabilities of apps in this category, I researched and developed a functioning prototype. Instantly is a mobile banking app used by those looking to send and receive funds with the touch of a button. The early personalization within the onboarding process is done to welcome new users and introduce them to the overall simple and friendly UI.
The goal of this project was to create a seamless registration process for users. After examining the onboarding process for Cashapp, it became clear that many people who sign up prefer for this process to require little to no effort on their part. Other research of common UX/UI practices revealed that features such as email registration, password strength meters, and user search have become helpful in most instances.
Users could benefit from more information and subtle directions being relayed during the onboarding process. The addition of more personalization options during these early stages might also entice users to come back for future use. The onboarding experience is where users will have their first interactions with an app. It is crucial for designers and developers to provide the user with a pleasant and unique experience to have a higher chance of them returning.
With this prototype, I wanted to give users the option to create an account using either their email address or phone number. I also wanted to allow them to personalize their profile as early as possible through the selection of their username, profile picture, and display name. Finally, because cyber security is of the utmost importance--especially when it comes to financing, a password strength test, and password confirmation is also a part of the registration process.
